Small peelers work best when food residue is removed promptly and the blade is allowed to dry before it returns to the drawer.
Rinse soon after use
Run water across the blade to loosen peel and vegetable fibers. Keep fingers behind the cutting edge and use a soft brush when residue collects around the blade holder.
Check moving areas carefully
If the blade pivots, inspect the spaces around each end without forcing the mechanism. Do not reach into a tight area with a fingertip.
Dry before storage
Shake away excess water, dry the handle and blade with care and leave the tool exposed to air until moisture is gone. A dry storage space helps keep the peeler ready for its next use.
Give each shape enough room
Store I-shape and Y-shape peelers where the blade will not catch on other utensils. A divider or dedicated tool section also makes the preferred grip easier to find.
